August 2019: Started a postdoc in the biology education research lab at Arizona State University!
July 2019: The first paper from my PhD is finally out in Frontiers of biogeography! We did a global analysis of patterns of arthropod abundance along elevational gradients. Check out our study here.
Also, the Jablonski and Price lab do it again! BiBi 2.0 (birds & bivalves) is out in Proc Roy Soc B. This time, we look at functional diversity patterns in birds and bivalves.
June 2019: Formally graduated from University of Chicago!
April 2019: Successfully defended my dissertation! And learned how to uncork a champagne bottle :)
November 2018: New paper in behavioral ecology! We show how positive correlations between pre- and post-copulatory traits across species should be commonly observed. More broadly, we show that even if traits trade-off, resource variation across individuals or species results in positive correlations between the traits under consideration. This paper took a long time and many rounds of revisions, but I am very proud of the work we did :) Please check it out here!
August 2018: Excited to go to Evolution 2018 in Montpellier, France!
May 2018: I was featured on the Conversations in Science series produced by United Sciences of Chicago. Check out the conversation here. Also, I am going to the Faculty for the future Fellows meeting in Boston at the end of the month!
April 2018: My faculty for the future fellowship has been renewed! Also, I got selected to be one of the 12 Soapbox science Chicago speakers.
March 2018: Our paper on correlation between sperm length and song length in Old World leaf warblers just got accepted in the Journal of Avian Biology. And my abstract was selected for a poster at the Evolution meeting in France. Also, we had a successful EYH Chicago 2018, annual conference for middle-school girls that I help organize.
February 2018: Co- facilitated a workshop on "Inclusive teaching in STEM" with Amanda Shubert, what a wonderful learning experience!
September 2017: I had a wonderful experience learning about a lot of cool research at the India Biogeography meeting in Bangalore, India. Also, thank you for the best student talk award!
August 2017: American ornithology society meeting in east Lansing was so much fun! Thank you so much to all the people who came to my talk, despite it being in the last session of the meeting!
July 2017: Just finished the last field season for my PhD!
April 2017: In the field for what will hopefully be the last field season for my PhD project. Also, the Rufford India conference in Ranthambore National park was an incredible experience, even if I didn't see any tigers there.
September 2016: Had a great time at the International Conference on Entomology in Orlando, Florida. It was great to talk about my research and hear all the cool stuff that people have been doing.
August 2016: Back from a fantastic learning experience at the Ant Course in Mozambique! It was great to learn all about ants from the experts in the field.
July 2016: Done with fieldwork, what a great field season! Now for some lab work at the Wildlife Institute of India. Really enjoyed giving a talk about my work here.
May 2016: Our paper stemming from the Price-Jablonski lab meetings on genus range size distributions in birds and bivalves just got published. Check it out here.
Also thanks to the Biological Sciences Division, UChicago for the Steiner Award, which allowed me to go to the Ant Course in Mozambique
April 2016: Another fellowship! Thanks to the Schlumberger foundation for offering me a Faculty for the Future fellowship. Off to do some fieldwork now!
March 2016: Honored to receive the Field Museum Women in Science Graduate Fellowship. Thank you so much!
January 2016: Just got a paper accepted in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology and got a grant from the Rufford Small Grant Foundation for my PhD research work. Thank you JEB and Rufford for a great start to 2016!
August 2015: Came back from India and went to the centennial meeting of Ecological Society of America at Baltimore. A useful meeting to attend.
